Oh! What waves life tosses my way! What waves compass me about! I gasp for air amidst the fomenting spray! Lungs demand breath, get naught but spume! Abandoned! Labyrinth of swell upon swell breaks over my head. From the front, from the side, vortex cacophony!
“Lord! Save me!”
Immediately through the clamorous froth a wild, wondrous, luminous, bearded becalming smile with sparkling eyes, eternity of word revealed through his stretched out hand drawing me into his embrace. Storm, no more!
“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
The howling winds recede, the waves still. Did I doubt? Do I? I must. “Truly, you are the Son of God! I do believe! Help my unbelief!”
(Matthew 14:22-33 and Mark 9:24)
In chaos, be it illness, death, job loss, family strife, or any other suffering or strife, Jesus is always with us, but it can be hard to feel that for the waves smashing down my gullet and wind howling in my ears!
Email me, that I might pray with you and for you and so share the journey. Seek Jesus in the Mass. Walk with Jesus and his Holy Mother through his life in the rosary. Storm no more!
May Jesus’ healing balm of peace wrap you and your loved ones in his love. Amen!
